Basically every Digimon game is vastly different and occasionally completely different genres.

Here are the good ones:
Digimon World 1
>Pet-raising sim/adventure with city building, actually really interesting, incredibly hard. PAL version is bugged to shit.

Digimon World 3
>Offline MMO, actually decent if you use an emulator and speed up the combat and/or only use 1 single partner monster.

Digimon Re:Digitize Decode / Next Order
>Pet-raising adventure with less city building, way less clunky, but also less interesting. More or less modern World 1

Digimon Cyber Sleuth
>Persona-esque JRPG

Digimon Time Stranger

I personally heavily dislike JRPGs, but Time Stranger isn't annoying me like the other ones or even Cyber Slut did.

The main meat of Digimon will always be the anime, namely subbed Adventure and Tamers
