What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.

Defend the weak and the fatherless;
uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed.
Rescue the weak and the needy;
deliver them from the hand of the wicked.

Virtue to Cultivate:
Diligence / work
(Romans 12:11: “Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord”).

Above all else, guard your heart with all diligence, for everything you do flows from it.

Diligent hands will rule, but laziness ends in forced labor.

Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth

Do not believe me unless I do the works of my Father. But if I do them, even though you do not believe me, believe the works, that you may know and understand that the Father is in me, and I in the Father


we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do
