The Head Wife has the important mission of giving birth to the household's Sons. In addition, she's also the highest quality female of the house in terms of bloodline, and often a gift from a higher rank Man.

Therefore, similar to the twin sister, there's a certain societal expectation for Head Wives to be treated gently. It's bad etiquette to mistreat, abuse, or neglect her. But the Master of the house still can, for it's his right. The Son can't touch her without permission from the Father, for she is His property, but eventually the Father will pass her down anyways.

After she's given birth to the First Son, life goes on. She gets bred more, once in a while producing another Son if the Master wishes to have backup Sons. While a household may produce dozens of daughters of various ranks, the Head Wife often makes a few daughters and at most 3-4 Sons.

She's the most excellent female in terms of quality, but she might not suit the Master's tastes. So while Head Wives are spared from abuse and live in more comfortable conditions than most other females in the household, they often don't expect to be truly loved by their Masters. Instead, the Master might prefer to play with a lower ranked female, and in that case, although the Head Wife has the most authority technically, even she has to be careful around that female.
