Melee doesn't get good until you get Super Slam, doesn't become great until Piercing Strike (unless you're a loser using rippers, chainsaws, or thermic lances), and doesn't become bonkers until Slayer. Then you start swinging Oh Baby! or Blade of the West around like a whirlwind OR you turn off your cringe inhibitors and become the New Vegas Ninja with the katana.
