yeah it's a pretty cute one, i think as a whole the entire 64 group is really close knit together because of 64's events and if we're talking how dedede went from jerkish to having a heart of gold this is probably one of the times he realizes he can't just keep being an asshole king all the time. it's also why i don't really see meta knight as one of kirby's core friends. he usually seems to do his own thing so he doesn't feel like someone like gooey or adeleine who are basically always in the close friend group
