The fun thing about Cream is she's also pretty basic. You could, conceivably, pair her with anyone in the series and it could work out besides the most extreme cases.

Tails and Cream? Cream will be more than happy to help tails around in his workshop and grill him over what this or that does.
Knuckles and Cream? Treasure hunt time!
Shadow and Cream? You might actually get some emotion or growth out of Shadow.
Rouge and Cream? Shit that can easily turn into a Robinhood deal.
Omega and Cream? Cream is great with robots. Like impossibly good at dealing with them it's kind of weird how she does that.

You can slot cream into anything and she just works.
