Trying to get my fiance’s inherited ‘55 victoria on the road so we can drive it home from our wedding. It hadn’t run in a few years, but i put on a new fuel pump and now she’s running again. Carb leaked like crazy so i ordered a rebuild kit from Holley. A few other things:
- drained oil, put 4 quarts in and dip stick read way over-filled???
I’m guessing the oil filter housing holds 2+ courts must be the reason?
- ordered amsoil 10W-40 for new long-term oil
- going to do all new fuel lines
- going new air filter
- not sure what gear oil to use but i would like to do the diff and the 3 speed manual as well
I think the bias ply tires are actually looking ok for the 20 mile drive to the wedding and back. No dry rot on them. Obviously would like to get new ones. Other items for long term:
- new brake system
- maybe change to 12 volt electrics
- maybe add seat belts
Thanks for any advice guys. My first dabbling with a classic and i love how easy it is. It’s a spring chicken too, at some point it got painted but it only has 19,850 original miles.
