Can't really tl:dr for you to understand the context:
>Crunchy releases the global version of Princess Connect, a Cygames game

>The Clan Battle (basically a guild war) happens as usual
>The 30th of march, the last day of Clan Battle and birthday of the main female character they announce that the game will close in a month (on May 1st)
>Everyone is confused, including the translators
>The day before the announcement Crunchy had the fucking gall to make an article about learning to give up on your favorite gacha when they close
>Community is extremely angry and brings up every single bad shit Crunchy ever did to the extend that Crunchy edited multiple of their pages to hide all of that shit under the rug
>Several years later people always bring this up when Crunchy is mentioned
As for the reason why they closed it, people are split on two possibilities:
- Crunchy decided to completely drop PriConne because they released Street Fighter Duel, a gacha they edited the rates of behind the back of the players, made free units gacha ones and gacha units require paid currency and ended up making way more money than Priconne
- Cygames saw how they were handling the Street Fighter gacha by hiding rates edits and decided to stop their contract with Crunchy because they didn't want to see the same shit happen with their game
I think it's highly likely that it's the first option, they decided to not renew their licencing contract with Cygames when they saw how much money they could milk from the Street Fighter fans compared to Priconne. Funny thing is, now, two years later, this Street Fighter gacha is now making less than Priconne did when it was 2 years old.
