Also it's because of just being massive pussies and honestly, kind of lazy.
>new edition sucks dick and isn't fun
>suggest going back to older editions or making their own
>people don't want to go back to older editions because they might play differently and changing habits is hard
>also old editions suck to a degree and some people don't like them
>newbies don't like old editions because old editions like all old things have an air of "stigma" on them, ie. it's old and therefore sucks
>people don't want to make their own homebrew edition because that shit is a lot of work
>also good luck trying to get newbies and old veterans to play your untested homebrew edition
>only option is to then play current new edition because it is safe to assume everyone knows this
>repeat the cycle
That's largely how this edition stuff goes with 40k.
Last time the fanbase made a homebrew edition was when GW released 3rd edition of 40k and many people hated it so they went back to 2nd ed and then made a 2.5 edition so to speak. It supposedly still gets played based on what I've seen people say here.
Currently there is a new project in the catalog about making a new homebrew 4th edition, but who knows how that'll go. There used to be a one before it known as /fourk/ and that shit died within less than 2 months.
