I've been playing HM since PSX era, and no. They're not superior. SDV is the more polished, better game.
And HM / SoS gotten worse by each year.
Every HM game post Natsume split is dogshit, so I won't even bother talking about them. I skipped alot of titles as well.
I tried playing FoTM remake a few years back. While it's very faithful with minor QoL changes, the game feels dated and very bare bones. I wouldn't even buy this if not for the nostalgia factor.
SoS AWL is literally the same game as the PS2 release with newer graphics, FemMC option, and another faggotry romance.
At this point I knew the franchise is dead and gone. It's just reheated nostalgiabait cashgrab with modern sensibilities crammed in.
Same thing with RF. Though at the very least RF gotten better with their latest release, or maybe because 5 is just really bad that anything looks better in comparison.
Anime aesthetic won't be able to save the franchise. Especially since SDV got a huge modding community to replace their tumblr style.
Feels like the last HM/SoS game I actually enjoyed playing was ToTT.
Maybe I'm just too old so the magic is gone. Maybe their games is bad, maybe it's both. Idk.
