Back in 2014 there were phishing scams going on that for some reason Valve never ever thought would happen to them, so naturally they never made any security to check if your account was compromised like that and your items were stolen. All you could do was report it to Valve, lock your account down, then change your shit until they reset your items. To remedy this they then had everyone sign up for Steam Guard on their phones which then killed casual trading in TF2 because now you couldn't do instant trades anymore unless you had Steam Guard. Otherwise you'd have to wait 14 fucking days to let the items go through which is still the case to this day.
