The first Frieren chapter felt like a deconstruction of isekai tropes but then the manga quickly abandons that and it becomes isekai #27639 with a magic system, generic villains and even a tournament arc.
Also, you're 100% right about the characters. It's a show for otaku who don't interact with other human beings, like 99% of anime nowadays.
