Frieren
This show is pozzed. I was lied to.
It's got writing indicative of people who've never had life experience outside of video games. The "adventurers" form a "party" and become "heroes". This is not how people speak outside of video games, these terms exist as meta-mechanical descriptors and don't exist within the game universe. I hate shows that do this, it's incredibly awkward. Inuyasha did not "form a party" and "go on an adventure" to "defeat the evil demon king", a motley crew came together to hunt Naraku because each of them had a personal vendetta against him. They didn't have "jobs" or "classes". Not that Inuyasha is great writing, but it's better than this meta-narrative schlock.
Religion is depicted as a fairy tale. The characters are religious because... it's a nice idea innit? How sweet.
It's full of cutesy shit for the sake of cutesy shit, that ruins the tone. Frieren is a stoic, majestic ancient and powerful magician, but she still acts like a toddler stopping the show to do cute poses and fawn around. Here's another montage of Frieren being oh so sickeningly adorable. Aww. Fuck off. Unearned.
She gets two companions and they are both danger hair pronouns. One is an effeminate useless fraud, the other is a bulldyke refugee. Their interactions are awkward because the show can't decide if Frieren is their mother figure or their child.
The first "demon" the group comes across is a European white male... who is bad because rich and has horns.
Frieren is an asexual. The show is lauded by it's fanbase as being "not like other anime's" because it doesn't have fanservice, but it's clear now that the show has simply been neutered.
I found this show to be thoroughly disappointing, all the more so because it's held up by it's fanbase as trad and redpilled.
It's shallow, meandering, gay and stupid. I do not care for it.
