More to the point, pretty much all of Bonbon's character is established prior to SoL. Her two grump bits are from S1 and S2, her friendship with Lyra is all from background appearances of them standing next to each other. It's all implicit. SoL doesn't add anything complex to that. It's the point of the episode, they're not complex characters, but they're special in their own regard. The fact that they have a story is the point, not that they're some dynamic, complex character.
