Here's a rewrite for Anthropology: After Lyra finds her human family, her father hires an expensive private investigator to figure out what happened to his daughter. (Assuming the worst, like trafficking). The PI talks to Lyra, goes into her past, and comes to a complete dead end in Des Moines, gives up after a few months. Tells father this, but notices that Lyra has a very bright inhuman eye color and that her 'dyed' green hair has been growing.
Noticing something is very wrong and going off a hunch, he asks the family to do another parentage test; now it returns 98% certainty of parenthood, which is a really weird figure. Meanwhile, Lyra has been having vivid dreams about Equestria and turning back into a pony as she did in the original fic. Noticing something is off, the PI asks a friend to do a test on Lyra's DNA, and figures out that there are autosome paires which should not be there; equine.
Confronting Lyra about this, her parents don't believe it, but she admits to have been a pony for 16 years, showing off her journal. Not that there's much to deny, as her tail started growing back (magic fixing the body) and the pony part of her is taking over her human part. So Lyra now has to find a way back to Equestria (once turned back into a pony) and hope Celestia can fix it, while finding peace with her human family in case she can't.
