The engineers @ NVIDIA knows better than anyone else that RT/PT is very taxing on real-time 3D rendering performance.
They're pushing the tech to make use of the RT & Tensor cores in the GPU (need to use upscaling to improve RT'd gaming performance).

It's less profitable to design a dedicated gaming GPU, GeForce chips inherit the core architecture from workstation GPUs.
There are professional use cases for those RT cores and NVIDIA decided it's worth meeting those needs.
