When he finally gets killed, it's stupid, but there's more weight to it than when Alear's mom dies right at the beginning. And we're supposed to care? Three houses had thousands of years of history, regional conflicts, and it was designed in a way that actually was somewhat believable. Forging ancient relic weapons from the bones of dragons is a lot cooler than retarded ghost spirits to wank off previous games for nostalgia's sake and "I'M DA FIRE EMBLEM??" tier writing. I just dont know how you can even pretend like they're comparable.
