I want SteamOS to double as something I can use for general productivity. Once it has word processing, a browser, and some basic image editing I think I could switch. Using another Linux branch and having to constantly check for updates or compatibility seems like more of a hassle and I want SteamOS to standardize general Linux use. Until then, SteamOS can only do a little of what I can do with Windows or even MacOS.

You're delusional if you really think that a continent that has the economic might of a real super power like China or the US and the population to match, couldn't curb-stomp Russia by increasing their military spending by 1-2 percent. Your average European wouldn't even notice anything had changed. Meanwhile Russia has to go on war economy and cannibalize itself just to not lose to a country a third of their size with their 40 year old NATO and Soviet weapons.
