Yes and no.
Good points:
>it goes bang when you pull the trigger
>bullet goes generally where you aim it
>usually lighter than an AR-15
>looks purdy (subjective)
Bad points:

>AR-15 has better selection of attachments and accessories
>AR-15 comes in multiple barrel lengths
>AR-15 of equivalent price (1000+ US Dollars, US Civilian Market) is more accurate

They work, and they can be a lot of fun. But if you buy one and turn out to be insane like other Mini-14 owners, we WILL bully you. The AR-18 is in a similar boat.
