Not sure if I remember correctly, but I think later on it's show that their team "never" had won or participated on these competitions to begin with (and this is why they are apatethic)

Iirc their history is being retconed, and without the OG jocks their team sucks, and because of that nobody cares about their team. The memories of winning competitions is non existant. Later on Jo has to tackle that she is the only one that remembers her feats.
