Old fans don't care much for the new content, new fans don't talk much about it, the audience is uncertain in a sort of "forever show" that's dragged on as long as the Simpsons has. There's nothing really interesting but the memes anymore, and of course, the memes are mostly of older episodes because unless something audacious happens in a newer one, they got nothing of interest. And without a movie or any big thing going on, it's literally just "here's a month to shill the Simpsons because Disney has their cock down our throats."

I'm sure any alternatives for themes wouldn't be any better, fuck the mini-season ad concept, but the Simpsons has nothing really going for it nowadays to need a dedicated month of bullshit.
