5%? I think that is small enough to survive and you losses on PM wont ruin you. But I purposefully want my portfolio to invert when inevitable happens. If a 0% PM portfolio makes you whole, the more and more you pile on you can see that you can lose everything off of monetary collapse. It's not just a loss, but forgoing the potential to make many many multiples on real investments when times are the toughest. (This includes stocks and bitcoin that allow you to earn dividends and act as a barrier between you and your losses on physical rocks)
I see the certainty of the dollar, my good investments in BRICs, national debt, trade imbalance etc and I think it is important to have no stack not only as a percentage of my portfolio, but to be a 0%er in physical ownership. Given that the entire system wants to kick the can, I can safely assume that imnrich now. I can still build up a 401k and invest in other things in the meantime. If you dont buy retard rocks, things are normal you wont have to have a job and won't need to worry in the present. It is when we turn the corner and the government and Fed have cash flow problems that things we start to get fabulous and stocks and crypto will shine more than ever
