Did he even do anything wrong? He never points the gun at the other people, he was going to let them on the helicopter. The girl tries to gaslight everyone into thinking he let her fall but everything was happening so quickly and the boat was practically on its side, are we gonna blame him for not jumping out to catch her? By that metric, scarjo's character is equally guilty for not jumping after the doctor guy when he fell off the side of the cliff. The movie tries so hard to convince you he's a villain, but it won't actually commit to making him a bad guy.
