What is the appeal of Black Templars? You only have 2 unique infantry squads, 2 unique named characters, a few unique generic characters (one of which is an Ancient) and the option to take meltas on your Repulsors. At that point, if you want to run Space Marines, why not just choose Dark Angels, Space Wolves or Blood Angels instead? They both have much bigger ranges than Black Templars.
