esports is a fundamentally retarded business. everyone's in the red unless they're scamming vcs, scamming fans by getting them addicted to gambling, scamming other orgs by selling them overpriced players and teams, or passion projects by someone very rich who's ok losing that money. even the "smart orgs" like cphf eventually hit a bad patch of luck and skid out into bankruptcy
american businesses have no interest in burning millions of dollars to accomplish nothing, vc funds have finally learned that esports is never going to become real sports (viewership, paying to stream, actual return on investment), sponsors have learned that you don't sell anything by advertising through esports, we actually get in trouble for shilling illegal gambling here, and we don't have american zinchenkos who grew up playing cs to splash cash out of passion
the average american will not quit their job and nolife cs for poverty wages because they're not a broke cis thirdworlder, and they cannot give up 4+ years of their life comfortably and safely like a european with health insurance and no pressing need to credential themselves and get a job. plus pc gaming is less of a thing compared to communal social experiences, which caps the starting point for interest
this then forms a vicious cycle of less org investment, no pathway to success worth grinding for, no na teams winning or good pros streaming and drawing eyeballs, shrinking viewership, shrinking playerbase, less marketable na audience, less org investment, and so on
this has been your "how the usa works" crash course
