Space Marines are leagues above rogue traders in terms of 1v1. A space marine would kill a rogue trader in seconds without any particular exertion, because Rogue Traders are just well equipped and well educated people, sometimes with some fancy augmentations.

He is entirely correct that a fight between two marines is going to be decided by the marines, and that it was dangerous for you to even be there. However, he forgot that this is an owlcat game and you have plot armor and unreasonable power starting from the first chapter of the game.
