The whole "owen is an ntr chad" meme is massively overblown by gooks. Owen also acts like a complete retard and gets overlooked by the entire group for what has to be hours since he manages to get completely separated from them in what is essentially hell where everyone should have eachothers backs. His only sin is spending more time with some of the girls which makes sense since he's spending it with them as newer members of the team sightseeing.
But the MC is truly written in a bizarre and retarded way. The tutorial and the majority of Renoa's Trauma code has him written pretty well. But he acts like a complete fucking retard in the main story and it just gets worse. He's supposed to be an experienced captain but quivers and collapses into a puddle at the slightest pushback from anyone.
It is genuinely embarassing how badly he's written as a character for his backstory and for how important his role should be within the universe as a Protos and Captain.
