Flanderized their own combat. Bosses became a shitty joke compared to bosses from demons, dark 1 and bloodborne.

Their art style, atmosphere and realizing concepts remains impeccable but how the player interacts with the GAME continues to get worse. Elden ring was basically just the boss designers vigorously masturbating in your face. Either you fuck with the boss AI targetting with summons or you'll spend most of the battle on the defensive since there are very few openings that will go unpunished.

The biggest issue is windups and actual attack animations. In older games the swing itself is reactable. You can see the weapon coming down and have time to get out of the way. You can't do that anymore. You need to memorize when the windup is about to end and which evasion tactics actually work. For instance most bosses will punish you for jumping sweeps. But if you just iframe roll through the sweeps you're safe.
