There's no logic to employment in the USA unless you fall into category A.
A: You can secure a job that pays 150k USD a year. After taxes and liabilities you end up with about 110k a year to spend which is just enough to secure property and raise a small family.
B: You can't secure a job for 150k a year. Any job you do secure will provide enough funding for you only to rent, often with roommates. Some jobs will not even provide this much.
If you fall into category B then a life of criminal enterprise or "Gibs" becomes the most logical choice. Crime traditionally is high risk high reward, but its actually low risk for failure in an environment where the bar to own property is so high. Because if you fail you aren't squandering any opportunities since they do not exist in the first place.
If they want people to work, it needs to be logical to do so. A pure logic and reason AI would come to the same conclusion.
