I dunno, when does Death Note actually become a complex game of cat and mouse, because I tried reading it a while back, and L was just absolutely clowning on Light the entire time. Like he finds out super quickly that it's Light and has him dead to rights, only letting him go because he was curious about why the fuck he suddenly lost his memories and wanting to prove it 100% concretely beyond a doubt. Anyone else that was less autistic would've locked Light up and been done then and there.
I stopped reading at that point, as it felt like Light had properly and utterly lost, and that the manga was just continuing on for the sake of having more manga to read. That, and the introduction of the skyscraper felt incredibly silly. If it actually comes back around after that, I'd be curious in giving it another shot.
