Eh, they're pretty middle of the road for modern pokemon games. Better than XY, SV, and ZA, worse than SM and Arceus.
I think the main issue is whether any of those games could be called "good". But if we're comparing it to it's peers, they're fine games.

>Showing off shinies or regionals, or some relatively rare pokemon like Larvesta with tons of berries fed to farm candies

Typical Mystic Gym
>Blissey, Wobbufett, Chansey, Milotic, Snorlax, Florges

At the very least, it seems like my local Mystic members don't seem understand Golden Razz is the only gym defense that matters
