Day 62

As winter rolled in and the hail began to fall, I dedicated my time to training for the next gym battle. While out in the wilds, I caught a Foongus hiding among the grass, and after some steady battling, Zorua finally evolved into a sleek and cunning Zoroark. Deeper into Chargestone Cave, I discovered and caught a tiny but powerful Joltik clinging to the cave walls, its electric energy practically buzzing through the air.

Feeling confident in my team, I challenged the Driftveil City Gym Leader, Clay. The battle was over faster than I expected. Lucario led the charge, using Force Palm to paralyze Krokorok before finishing it off with another strike. Servine handled Sandslash beautifully, using Leaf Storm and Mega Drain to sap its strength while taking only minor damage in return. Finally, it came down to Excadrill versus Excadrill—but mine didn’t hesitate. A swift Dig followed by a lucky critical hit brought Clay’s ace down in one shot. It was a total sweep.

But there was no time to rest. After my victory, I chased some fleeing Team Plasma grunts, only to discover their new base was a massive sailing ship. I managed to defeat several of them onboard, but before I could do more, the Shadow Triad appeared—acting on the orders of Zinzolin, one of the seven sages. In a flash, they dragged me off the ship, and just like that, the vessel vanished into the distance.
