Youtube was my all encompassing go to for nearly two decades. The content that was on there was immaculate, the search and discovery system for finding music was perfect and basically built half of my music taste. If you had something you wanted to find, you'd find it.
But then people got punished for making content of any kind even if youtubers threw their back out trying to appease whatever the system demanded, the algorithm stopped recommending full albums and now only recommends individual songs sometimes mostly on accident, the removal of everything on copyright grounds has gotten so bad that wholely irrelevant properties nobody would be aware of any other way are getting taken down. If you want to find something specific fuck you, you get 100 news media slop videos and then 500 irrelevant influencer slop videos instead in search.
When they announced theyd begin ID walling the site in specific circumstances I downloaded the few hundred youtube videos I think future generations deserve to see along with all of my surviving music playlists.
