There are those that are forced to mature young, and are coddled beyond adulthood. Looking to the past, and saying 'look this 12 year old got married, we weren't babified back then!', ignoring we have widespread modern medicines, modern day maternity care and so on sort of invalidates the need in that context.
The same applies to sending 13-14 years old to die in wars, before machine guns were made and fucking your cousins were the norm (which modern day degens also point at being the 'good ole times' due to obvious reasons).
Point doesn't stand, teenagers might be more retarded than they were centuries ago, but centuries ago the average teenager didn't need a highschool level of literacy to make an honest living.
