This is our only bathroom. Its old and often smells a bit moldy. House was built in the 40s. I can do some handy stuff like installing ceiling fans, built a wood fence topper and added it onto a short brick wall, changing brake pads/rotors or changing out a toilet, etc. but theres no way im going to be able to tackle an entire remodel on my own with very very little experience/know-how. I might be able to save some money by doing the demo myself but I really could use some tips on how to commission this work without getting screwed over by a general contractor. I'm not even sure where to begin. Also when we bought the house they suggested doing a repipe because we have nearly 80 year old galvenized pipes. I figure we'll just take the savings hit and do all this work at once that way we can also assess any rot/mold issues. This also gives us a chance to relocate some fixture placements. What do you all think?
>where would you move fixtures, if at all?
>should i bother with the repipe?
>who do i contact to start this work?
Also, the little cut out by the door belongs to one of two hallway closets, maybe we can get rid of that closet and add to the sqft of the bathroom? The cut out by the tub and the sink belongs to a bedroom closet that could be removed too but would probably be awkward because it actually extends further north past the sink.
