It is not difficult at all to chamge a faucet in most situations. Just buy the one you want amd install it.

I need a thin (sub 5mm) small 30x60mm quick release plate that I can glue something to either side of so I can quickly attach and detach a grip to the back of my phone.

Why make it that complicated? Put a piece of masking tape on the belt and use the stopwatch on your phone.

Otherwise tachometers aren’t expensive. Put the piece of tape on a pulley that drives the belt, point the tach at it, do the math with RPM of pulley, size of pulley, length of belt and you will get a ratio of RPM of the pulley to revolutions of the belt.

I'm a subcontractor for a large multinational company, I'm new and not qualified neither is the older guy there, he has absolutely not enough knowledge to be leading the jobs we work. We take forever to finish a task that someone competent would complete much safer and faster yet here we are, moving from jobsite to jobsite with almost no oversight.

I don't get it, foremen see us working and try to accommodate us, might make so snarky comments or call the office but no one from the company ever comes to see us at work and how incompetent we are.
I don't get it, should I contact upper management, address this and force them to pair me with some capable or quit? It's becoming pathetic, others tradesmen probably joke between themselves about us.

At this point all I try to do is making sure there's enough anchors and fixtures to make it safe, I don't care if it works properly or looks good.

Is this normal? Are companies so deprived of workers they hire someone, give them carte blanche and just figure shit as they go? Do I resign?
The job would be nice if I were learning the ropes the right way, do as I'm told, but as is today it's not a good environment. If my team leader had a functional brain he would tell the boss that he needs more time, training a experience before leading a team but he just accepts the responsibility and tries to make do without caring much for safety or the outcome.

I won a bid on a home that uses well water, the water softener looks rusted out so I know I need to replace at least that much but what else do I need to look at? The uh... Reserve(?) tank looks to be in decent shape. I don't think thje main home has gutters, the garage/workshop does though.

Also, the subfloor needs replacing or at least to have a new layer of plywood built on top. Some research tells me that running drainage pipes to a sump, insulating the walls (or skirting in this case), and encapsulating the area is probably the way to go as long as there's no mold necessitating replacing beams

i live downstairs of a 2 seperate unit house. 5rooms upstairs, 5rooms downstairs. we had a pipe burst in my house. then it got fixed by landlords old chinese henchman. fastforward a few weeks and now im constantly hearing a 'waterhammer' noise from upstairs unit. sometimes affected by us running water. sometimes from them running water. i told landlord to send her guys to check it out. we ran the sinks a few times and got the noise to replicate, they said it was fine. well fastforward a week later and idk wat folks are doing upstairs but im hearing it louder and more aggressive. what do? wait for pipes to break and mold the house? water hmmer noise last about a second or maybe two at a time.

it's from shutting off the tap too fast and it's most likely they just left the repair hanging in the air instead of tying it to the house. different neighbors or a replaced sink with a fast shut off valve would be causes but it sounds like it's always hammered just never banged. if you can tie the pipe down somehow it will reduce the noise. can you get to the repair?

so someone has a advice on how strong pipe liner are? Its for the main drain pipe I have no idea about the details but my drain pipe had a huge fucking hole in it through which gravel like in pic penetrated and the plumber fixed the pipe with the liner. I am wondering if I should remove the gravel or will nothing happen? The pipe is 5m deep below the gravel layer ontop isn't covered by anything its just a walking area right next to a house wall. The dude who did the work said not to care but that seems kinda strange to me. I got another dude to look at it but he agreed as well not to bother.
I think the original hole happened because the retard that changed the water pipe which is 2m above the drainage used the pressure hammer and made some cracks in the old pipe (>50 year old I think) could that happen with the pipe lining as well?

anons, i have an older table that i salvaged that would fit my other furniture. however, it's been sitting in storage unprotected and got damaged by water(i think). the table top is built from some sort of particle board and is covered in a "thick" layer of glossy lacquer, kind of like shellac or similar. i don't know the specifics, the piece is around 50 years old
at the edge that was sitting on the ground the board has swelled a bit and looka at it i can see some voids that have developed. from the top the piece is discolored a few centimeters in, it looks like the lacquer has separated from the wood and has given it this sort of "bleached" look.
i don't really care about the swelling, as in i don't mind that it's thicker on one side. what i'd like to do is somehow clean it, then seal it and make the lacquer look better. i assume that i can't "reglue" it or anything, should i ship it away and apply some sort of new coat? if i do that, should i ship away the whole thing across the whole top?

Not excessively so but it has huge leverage on the base rod, it's got an articulated arm and a lampshade all in metal so when you extend the arm there's a ton of torque on the mounting point.

I bought a used galvanized steel car port (allegedly from 1998 or so) from an estate sale. It had every piece except one, a piece of telescoping square tubing that connects the roof brace to the bottom frame. It's a 2.25" piece of galvanized square steel tubing (presumably).

I'm not sure what the technical name for this is, and I'm having a lot of trouble finding a replacement for the part. Anyone know where I should be shopping for this, or what an equivilent replacement part would be. Local hardware store has nothing like this, and the big boxstore a city away also claims it has nothing like this.

What are the best marerials to use when replacing the trim of a bathroom window in a shower? Do i use finish nails if its pvc or do i just glue them down with silicone? Its a traditionally framed window like youd see anywhere else in the house except its not set back, just flush with the wall.

Is an 18 gauge sink sufficient? Yeah obviously a 16 gauge sink is better but these suckers are already looking pretty pricey.

Get a 3.5mm to RCA adapter (or dig one out of your junk drawer). Plug one end into your PC (the line out jack on the back is possibly better than the headphone out on the front but it probably doesn't matter). Plug the other end into your tape deck. Turn the input level knob on the tape deck to the middle. Adjust the volume on the PC so that the levels are right for the tape type you're using. Done.

I need a new handheld vacuum, ideally one with a brush that can pick up long hair without constantly getting clogged, and that can take standard 18V tool batteries.

The main thing they would be useful would be getting fitting nuts onto long pipes and tubes where a normal deep socket would still be too short. They're not made for huge torque, more for getting those damn faucet nuts up into the sink in hard to reach places.

So no they're not necessary, but a full time plumber would probably find them quite useful.

If the recorder is so inexpensive ti doesn't have an AUX (auxillary) input, you'll need a level reducer.

But if the hole is too big to patch cleanly, grab one of those 2x2 sheets of drywall from Home Lowe’s Inc, cut the busted drywall back in a rectangle to either the studs to do it properly or screw some wood blocks in behind the existing drywall to mount the new drywall to once it’s cut to the proper size. Then tape-mud-sand-primer-paint.

This is our only bathroom. Its old and often smells a bit moldy. House was built in the 40s. Hold the leaking valve and loosen the main compression nut at the bottom of the valve.
Remove the valve by lifting up. (may require slight twisting while pulling up)
Install the new stop-valve by reversing the steps above.

i have 2 rooms that are partitioned by a thin sheetrock wall, filled with (supposedly)noise suppressing wool. the problem is that when move about in my room (like moving my chair), the noise gets transfered to the other room easily through the floor, because those two rooms have one single connected slab. the slab composition is as follows

my first question is, would it decrease the noise transfer if i were to cut the top slab across, parallel to the sheetrock wall? i can't cut it all the way across, but around 3/4ths of the length (the rest is a hallway). i assume the nouse would not be transferred then, because the slab would be disconnected, but would that improve things significantly or is this a fool's effort? i'm assuming i'd cut it all the way to the insulation board, so the whole 10cm.

assuming i were to cut it, what would be the best method? i don't mind the dirt/dust, i know concrete cutters exist and i can rent one, but it seems like an overkill for a 4 meter cut, or am i wrong? would a large angle grinder with a diamond cutter suffice? would it be safer? are there any "slow" cutting tools? i don't mind it taking a few hours.

I am trying to find a union for a new radiator I got to replace this old one. the union is permanently connected to the old radiator, so I can't reuse it. it is a male connection into the radiator that is 1.5 in (i assume npt). and a male sheer connection that fits into the supply line but that tightens down with a nut onto threads that are on the supply valve. the threaded part of the supply line is about 2 inches across. I'm finding a lot of unions online, but most don't have a nut with threads inside, just a nut that is fixed onto the union to tighten the union as a whole.

You're going to want to remove those 2 vertical pieces that are rotted. Not least because you want to look behind the boards to see if there's more rot on the building's frame.

If that's to much work, cut out the bottom foot and just replace that.

If you are really lazy and absolutely want to half ass it, you could chisel out all the rot and replace it with wood filter.

So you've studiously avoided telling us what you plan on plugging into the outlets. We have no way of even guessing how much draw each device is going to pull, so no way of knowing if your circuit can handle it.

One NA plug is rated for 15amps, 120volts aka 1800W. Buy an extension cord that's UL or CSA rated for 15amps and us that as the basis of your extension. Make sure you never use over 1800W at a given time or you will trip your breaker.

But please remember that extension cords should only ever be used temporarily. They should not be installed permanently. The kind of thing you have in your pic rel is something you'd see on a job site. The workers don't want to walk over, unplug and plug in a new tool. This way they have all tools plugged in at once, but are only using one, maybe 2 at a time.

I have a wooden door and frame that I want to soundproof a bit with a very, very tight budget which means almost nothing. The frame is pretty old and lacks anchors or however theyre called for modern weatherstrips (the type that snaps in), so all I have to work with is the narrow, flat, builtin doorstop bar, picture related. It is barely 15mm. I have heard a lot of negative comments about those cheap adhesive general purpose weatherstrips (A) you find at home depot, the ones that is just the bare foam and a sticky underside, the most frequent complain about them doesnt seem to be that they dont work but rather that they become brittle and fall apart soon or that the adhesive fails. So I am considering alternative types of weatherstrips, I dont know much about soundproofing but apparently having contiguous empty space "air chambers" improves sound isolation so the type marked as B1 or B2 seems like a good fit. Or maybe the foam ones covered in that black plastic sheath type of thing, the "V" shaped one (C) seems like a good fit, because it is covered it wont become brittle and fall appart, the shape ensures a good seal if it loses springiness and even if the adhesive fails, I could drill some really tiny holes and screw the rest in while it keeps its shape. Thoughts or advice? I must add I live in a year round temperate region, the strip wont be subject to extreme temperature changes, nor humidity. And even if theyre not the best idea for soundproofing, anything is better than nothing because my bedroom is next to the living room where my family watches TV and the current gap is up to 5mm in some corners (can even feel cold air drafts through it sometimes). The doors frame is painted with vinyl matt emulsion, dunno if thats bad for adhesion but I hope not.

I've got some regular foam strips I put on my door at least 7 years ago and they're still perfectly fine. Maybe for an outside door they're junk and fall apart. In some places the adhesive might've come away, but the door clamps them in place anyway so unless the whole 2m+ length fails, they're fine.

In terms of soundproofing from sealing the gaps, it's a minor change at best. I can still hear the TV a couple of rooms away. Best bet is getting headphones.

if you followed the steps that means you have a lacquer finish, so i'd probably find some resource on reapplying the lacquer, but i'd assume you'd have to sand it down a bit first and then just apply a new layer on top, iirc lacquer can be applied on top of a previous layer, it blends in.

however unless this is a high quality door wing and/or you are well off and live in a high quality home, i wouldn't really worry about messing it up or whatever. i repaired a few pieces of furniture where i just applied a coat of paint on top to achieve a desired look and that's it. some pieces i use and leave the worn out areas as-is, it adds character imo.

if you have a piece of wood lying around or an old piece of furniture that you can just mess up, i'd buy a small can of lacquer and experiment on that first to get comfortable.
