Since we're on >international break, why don't we do something fun for once? Post legends from your club that have faded into obscurity. Maybe the leader of your club's legendary 1954 campaign only the fans have heard of, or that one guy your grandfather used to bring up to compare to the shitter on the right wing.
I'll start with Fluminense's Samarone. He was a technically gifted offensive midfielder with over 200 matches for Fluminense between 1965 and 1971. He grew up in Santos (and was a fan of the homonymous club), and first played for the local club Portuguesa Santista. Then Fluminense signed him in a very discreet and secretive negotiation process, scared the fans would react with outrage over the money being offered to some no-name shitter from Portuguesa Santista, which was precisely how everyone reacted. But then it turned out he was the real deal and he became one of the club's main stars, leading Fluminense to win two state championships and the club's first national trophy. Unfortunately he was plagued with injuries that cut short his career. He had short stints at Corinthians, Flamengo, Portuguesa (the other one) and Bonsucesso before retiring in 1975.
He also wasn't called Samarone. His real name was Wilson Gomes.
