One area where Doman Mahjong differs from most other implementations is that it gives you a lasting visual read on whether players are discarding a tile that was already in their hand (light colored discard) vs. the tile they just drew (dark colored discard). In most other implementations, you have to pay attention to visual cues at the time of discard. Someone who's been cutting their drawn tile repeatedly is more likely to be in tenpai (about to win) or close to it.
In general, if you spend a lot of time folding, but I will say that the rules and the playerbase for Doman Mahjong in particular allow you to play a bit riskier than usual.

Congrats anon, although... you can go into Character -> Gold Saucer -> Mahjong -> Reset Rank/Rating if you fall below 1500, so you don't have to climb out of the hole. I'd recommend learning mahjong in a faster environment like Mahjong Soul though, since it'll feel like clubbing baby seals when you come back here to play.
