I haven't touched Wilds yet since it's ugly as fuck and I feel insulted just looking at it, but regardless... It sounds like they did a shitty story and told it badly, but wouldn't you agree if a MH game had an actually good story it would be a big asset? I mean something that doesn't intrude on gameplay, more like ambient storytelling, memorable interesting characters you can encounter in the world and talk to and do quests for, etc. Maybe they join you on hunts and have special abilities or set you up for big attacks, etc.

Maybe it's just me but if a game has no story at all I just bounce off it. I need a reason to be doing the things I'm doing, even if it's incredibly flimsy. Like literally the intro to Bubble Bobble was good enough, one line of text that said basically "let's go on an adventure into the cave of monsters." Great! Let's!

When I tried MH on 3DS, what I was doing felt so out of context I was immediately bored.
