I know you're just shit stirring, but that's actually been a really interesting question for me for the last 2 weeks or so as I've been playing Breath of the Wild. "Why DID I care so much about the timeline."
Dunno. Maybe it's just the fact that there is definitely an implied or directly stated continuity in SOME of the games with each other, plus the devs keep gaslighting us by saying that's the case? It also doesn't help that 18 of the 23 games are heavily puzzle focused and draw in the puzzle fans that means that the average Zelda fan is more likely than not to want to figure out how they all fit together?
It really doesn't make any sense to me. I've had friends ask me "why don't you make a D&D game with Zelda if you love the series so much," and I always answer "Cause there's no world building. I like it cause it's a story about Link, Zelda, and Ganon. You can't really do D&D in that world." And yet here I am autistically trying to think of a way to unfuck the timeline out of BotW and TotK.
Guess I'm actually just retarded at the end of it.
