This was absolutely embarrassing and Zelda faggots slopped it up like it was Tolkien. Is this what happens when the bulk of your audience are women and gays?

How tf do you make the castlevania timeline look good?
Anonymous No.725424890 [Report]
>>725424787
By having a fairly linear and coherent sequence of events? The most outrageous thing about it is including the novel but that's because the devs were certified REAL NIGGAS.

Why the FUCK do you retards care about timelines in games like these?
Anonymous No.725426456 [Report]
>>725424641 (OP)
this timeline literally doesn't matter anymore because BotW and TotK rewrote it all

What narrative purpose does the Zelda timeline serve? If Tingle is in Majora's Mask and you find Tingle's hat in BOTW what does that actually do to serve the overarching themes of the story?
Anonymous No.725427619 [Report]
in reality, it's just alternate universes at this point, but some games are direct sequels
>LoZ Nes to Adventures of Link
>OoT to Majoria's Mask
>wind waker to phantom hourglass to spirit tracks

Why do you care?

You clearly don't play Zelda games.

Because the games are fairly shallow in regards to lore or worldbuilding but the autistic foids who rule the fanbase will have you believe it's the most intricate and nuanced fantasy world ever conceived, the OP shit is just the cherry on the shit sundae

Because it clearly doesn't have one. And that's fine, it doesn't need one. It's obvious that, with few exceptions, Nintendo just makes a game with no regard to a concept of canon or regards to previous events. The fact that the "timeline" is a branching tree should make that perfectly clear. Trying to establish a timeline for Zelda is like trying to establish a timeline for Scooby-Doo.

So basically you're autistic and can't just let other people enjoy things

Please go outside and live a little.

I know you're just shit stirring, but that's actually been a really interesting question for me for the last 2 weeks or so as I've been playing Breath of the Wild. "Why DID I care so much about the timeline."

Dunno. Maybe it's just the fact that there is definitely an implied or directly stated continuity in SOME of the games with each other, plus the devs keep gaslighting us by saying that's the case? It also doesn't help that 18 of the 23 games are heavily puzzle focused and draw in the puzzle fans that means that the average Zelda fan is more likely than not to want to figure out how they all fit together?

It really doesn't make any sense to me. I've had friends ask me "why don't you make a D&D game with Zelda if you love the series so much," and I always answer "Cause there's no world building. I like it cause it's a story about Link, Zelda, and Ganon. You can't really do D&D in that world." And yet here I am autistically trying to think of a way to unfuck the timeline out of BotW and TotK.

Guess I'm actually just retarded at the end of it.

Aren't you disconnecting things way too much? I feel like you're asking a similar question of "If Bilbo takes the ring of invisibility in The Hobbit, and Frodo throws the One Ring into the lava at the end of Return of the King, what's the point of mentioning the link there if the ring just gets destroyed anyways?"
Anonymous No.725433673 [Report]
>>725424641 (OP)
Maybe if they didn't try to make there be long-running continuity between the games in the first place, autists wouldn't have cared so much about the timeline beyond a fun speculative project.

>>725427317
In this specific instance you're confusing a set of clothing that's basically just there with it being an actual attempt at world building.
You get Xenoblade stuff in BotW but nobody is arguing that it's apart of the Zelda timeline/franchise.
All the DLC stuff is basically just Easter eggs.
