>Coeur is a Jaunefag
>not necessarily, Jaune is just useful
I'll never understand after all this time why no one ever uses Ren for more than just a one-shot or side character shipping bait, even just as a writing experiment or a breath of fresh air. Jaune is useful, but as the closest approximation for the series of a male main character, he is hardly unique as becoming the sole center point of a fanfic community, with nearly all stories featuring a male main character being about him. Just dip a toe into the traditionally most notable ff communities, Harry Potter and Naruto, and one would see the extent to which all stories feature the male main character twisted into a thousand and one different interpretations that have nothing to do with the actual personality or ethos or at times even the appearance of the characters.
There are so many 'what if Harry Potter was literally anything but the character known as Harry Potter, but still had his name' fics. It couldn't be more clear that many Naruto writers just wanted to write Sasuke, but came up with some excuse to justify Naruto himself being the dark avenger who also happens to have all the eye powers and be the most attractive guy ever (bonus points if he is given red or black hair, no whisker marks, and an all around different design). All of fanfiction has a 'diversity issue' when it comes to choices of main character for their stories, even for the case of RWBY where the one being propped up as the main character of their community was not actually the main character of the series. One might figure that when these individuals start writing their fiction and realize that the character they actually want to write has far more in common with another pre-existing character than the pre-ordained MC, they would actually just make the story about the one which fits best. Or just make a whole OC with a backstory that fits whatever makes sense for the story they're telling.
