Trump's insistence it isn't amnesty but rather a work program is hard to take seriously when he's not requiring the farmers who "vouch" for the illegals to force said illegals to apply for work visas. What he's doing is actually selectively decriminalizing illegal immigration for the benefit of certain industries. It's ironically a much more hard-left stance than even his most vehemently pro-immigrant critics hold.

Why should hotels, farms and restaurants be able to employ illegal immigrants for pennies on the dollar but other industries can't? I work in commercial fishing and we've already taken a huge hit with illegals that've stopped showing up to work for fear of being deported.
