Idk anon, whole ending feels like a goodbye.

I interpreted it differently. But that's coming from a retard who just recently started playing and doesn't get all the lore details so it very well could be me just filling in the blanks.
She is alive but in an inaccessible way (just like snails from Uzumaki kek). She became a Sono Sphere and you can't tell for sure if she is even concious. Yes she is technically alive and kuro could bring her back, but her story already had satisfying conclusion so it's less likely she will return

After watching midnight podcast my head canon is that her in game quest is just a symbolism for someone who doesn't want to let go of memories of their loves ones and decides to immortalize them in music which has to be perfect just like people it represents. That's why she merged with her memories of them, so she could remember them through music forever

She lost everyone and wandered alone for ages until she met a stanger who she misinterpretated as someone dear. Clinging to the thought that Rover meant what he said she waited some more, she snapped and became a baddie, did terrible things and finally met her end. All of that while still believing in that stranger till the very end, yet for rover she is was just some minor inconvenience, a random encounter. When she fell, he went after the gem, when they fought, he always aimed for the heart.

A troupe of tortured artist is so prominent in her story. I want her back but I feel like her return would be a bad idea.
