Because of Steve, Sonic, Snake, Samus, Min-Min, and to a lesser extent Pac-man, Olimar, and Corrin, the Ultimate meta has devolved into a game of keep away with most of the other top tiers being those who can 0-death the above. Kazuya, Luigi, Bayonetta, Falco, and Sora are all prominent because they can explode a stock off of a single interaction. Meanwhile fundies and rushdown characters are falling by the wayside because they don't fit into that game of cat and mouse.

The rise of Hero can be in attributed, in part, to him having Bounce to help him approach through the hail of projectiles and Zoom to help him completely ignore disadvantage.
