Souls games have flaws and some are old, but still have a functional game design that makes engaging with it a good time. Dragon's Dogma mechanics are all over the place. The game gets boring fast when the player outscales the world in hp and stamina and realizes the power of abusing broken vocation skills.
What requires the player to take aim and impedes movement and forces quick thinking and evaluation skills in Dark Souls (2011) is a quite mindless task in Dragon's Dogma because never once it crossed the minds of DD gameplay designer that letting yellows charge mightly show or spam triple arrow while moving on the double would be a great idea.
