I was able to "fix" it using the following hack:
>in firefox settings: disable text only zoom, set default zoom to 67%, set minimum text size to 24; in windows: set monitor dpi to 150% (alternatively: zoom to 80%, dpi to 125%)
this will help me cope and seethe until 2032
