HWID2 generates and registers a permanent legitimate license on MS's activation servers
Usage: paste into Powershell, run.

Microsoft already backported the scheduler to windows 10, which makes windows 11 effectively worthless.

Onenote forces me to pretty much update to new version. Ok, its a handy app that lets me sync notes between pc and an apple phone. Used to be able to be signed in just onenote without microsoft then taking liberty to sign me into every other microsoft office app I have on my pc. New onenote seems to do this. I log out of word and excell, one note now also logs out. Its really annoying, I feel like I am always fighting microsoft every time they updates things. They always pushing for everything to have an account. Anything short of going back to linux I can do here? Im happy just to be signed into onenote, but not everything else.

I just opened up a brand new Dell tablet with Windows 11 and it's a piece of shit. Even after running a debloater script it's using 60% of my RAM with zero applications open. I'm on battery saver mode with the brightness cranked way down and this shit is still eating my battery by idling at double digit CPU usage (no applications open). I've never knew tablets had fans until I ran the LibreOffice installer on this thing. No, not even running LibreOffice; running the God damn installer. I've never used Windows 11 before as my main PC is still on Windows 10, so I gotta ask if this is just the standard Windows 11 experience?

T-thanks, /g/.
Now I`m torn between getting a regular Win10 Pro and debloating it afterwards or trying Win11 IoT LTSC. It probably has to do with the 10 LTSC being too old to be compatible with my network adapter.
But that`s a problem for next week me.

You almost certainly activated with something like KMS
It's impossible for HWID to de-activate unless maybe if you change most of your hardware
With HWID you can even completely wipe your drives, clean install Windows, and it will auto-activate the moment you're connected to the internet because your HWID and license are on Microsoft's official servers

Different anon here, some of us HAVE had USB drives not work for unknown reasons, BIOS settings not helping no matter what. It is random. I got unlucky just once so far, but I have a couple of reliable, permanent Rufus-duty drives right now: a Patriot Rage Lite for Winhoes 11 and a Movespeed drive for Ubuntu 24. Sandisk and Lexar drives are what some other folks swear by. I bet PNY is fine, too.

>any attempt to fix the drivers get overridden on reboot because anything besides Big Brother Windows' Device Management Service Regime-Approved Drivers gets ignored as 'Outranked' in the event logs no matter the device, no matter the registry edits, which get unmade

The best way to activate current Windows these days is via MAS's HWID method. Permanent activation linked to your PC's ID which can survive re-installs of the particular version you used. And for KMS these days there's MAS's TSforge method using KMS4k, which KMS activates your system without adding any files for 4000 years.

There's a very good chance they will come to 24H2. Supposedly there are some but MS changelog doesn't list any. Remember the big feature updates are just "enablement packs" now so anything minor like tweaks and core applications updates is more likely to make it into a quality update. I would also expect new start to make it into 24H2 when its done but that update is still just in beta channel anyway

Same goes for the sidebar in explorer where there's a blank shortcut which doesn't link to anywhere and only has gallery icon visible.

There's an administrative template policy (Windows Components\Microsoft Defender Antivirus) for disabling Defender, but it requires you to disable the tamper protection option from within beforehand, so that the remediations won't kick in
>if you want to do this within the registry, create a DWORD value named "DisableAntiSpyware" in HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows Defender and set it to 1

Quite an oddity, as if it couldn't output the right string from the necessary MUI resource for your language (missing or improper?)
Are you sure the ISO you've downloaded is verified genuine and not corrupt? (
https://massgrave.dev/genuine-installation-media#verify-authenticity-of-files)
>Granted I did convert localized Enterprise ISO into LTSC using PID.txt method
uhh, i think you meant regular LTSC into the IoT subedition, yeah?
Otherwise you can just input the IoT key post-install to change the edition, no need for PID.txt (unless it's absolutely necessary)

>Are you sure the ISO you've downloaded is verified genuine and not corrupt?
I got it from massgrave and yeah that was pretty much the first thing I did after I noticed these odd strings. Adguard verified my ISO's hash (Polish Enerprise LTSC). I have never had issues of that kind with Win 10 LTSC before nor could I find anything on the Internet about my specific problem.
Ultimately I went with ShellExView and ShellMenuView to identify registry keys for those strings and some of them had references such as '@%systemroot%\system32\themecpl.dll,-10' etc. to pull from but they didn't. I replaced those with plain strings and it worked and that worked. I still can't find the registry for 'Task Manager' context menu string though.
To add more mystery to all of that fresh after installation the entire Windows/Defender locked me from modifying any files on C: drive. To the point where I couldn't even add plug-ins to my photoshop directory. That one got solved by disabling ransomware protection in Defender, but not before I fixed error 0x80080015 by disabling LUA - before I couldn't make any changes to Defender settings despite Administrator account.
All in all this is one hell of an OS and like I mentioned - I never had to jump through so many hoops to set up my system.
>uhh, i think you meant regular LTSC into the IoT subedition, yeah?
That's what I meant. Apologies for rambling a little. I thought that PID.txt would save me extra seconds after installation (I really don't know if that didn't mess anything up, honestly)

Yeah, what you've described sounds cursed. I'd rather start off with a clean slate: backup your important stuff, wipe off data from the drive, and install just LTSC proper. Make sure that nothing's abnormal, and only after that use the product key changing trick for converting the install to IoT LTSC
>the massgrave script is able to change editions too, fyi - then again it will do the same thing and change the key for virtual edition swaps (like EnterpriseS to IoTEnterpriseS)
I'd also make sure whether any of your hardware isn't at risk of failure - the target drive and the setup medium you used, RAM, etc., but that would be me being paranoid reading all the horror that you've experienced

Yeah, the only thing that might've contributed somewhat (and it's a stretch) would've been the flashdrive I used. It's an older one that's been collecting dust for a couple of years, so who knows. Other than that all the components are straight out of box. I suppose there's never a guarantee, but I'm not losing my sleep over them.
I think I'll go with a clean reinstall though. So I should first install the Enterprise LTSC localized in my language and after that run with the key input method?

Pretty much so. Especially wipe the will-be-once-again system drive off clean and prepare it during setup. Again, have backups earlier of your important data
Only when the problems exhibit again (even before the edition change) will it make the situation even more cursed

I'm talking stuff like drivers not getting properly uninstalled from an old printer when you get a new one and still loading. Shit running in the background like tasks you can't interact with.
The reason I ask is because I've been meaning to do a clean install on my like 6 year old Windows 10 to 11. I have so much stuff setup and customized that'd it'd be an ordeal to get everything squared away again.
Any insight on the former and tips for the latter? I was thinking about backing up my documents folder on my NAS daily, and doing the partition tip in the OP.
Anything else? Is there any programs that like containerize my programs with their settings so I can just do something like docker compose?

Can't tell you why it's crashing, but I can tell you that's a bad way to use it. Just buy a USB stick since storage space in the tens of gigabytes is dirt cheap, format it, then flash the ISO to it with Rufus. If Rufus itself is the problem, make sure you're using the proper version. I suspect you're running Win7 currently, so you need to use Rufus version 3.2 or prior, visit the github releases page and tab back a few pages.

Sometimes you get a hiccup in the data flow, sometimes your drive records the data 0.001% inaccurately because of an infinitesimal temperature fluctuation affect the components, sometimes an errant neutron hits a satellite or a cable, sometimes God just wishes to cause you pain. Take your pick of any of these, but the only way to be sure you have an accurate ISO is to check the hash.

The boot circle/ring at the early boot stage are basically glyphs from the boot TTF fonts (and that also depends on the locale, though most likely it's Segoe in your case). Try modifying them.
But as they're tried to the boot loader, there might be hoops when dealing with modifying boot-related files, especially PE binaries - from violating the signature to winload.efi just refusing to load the files that are not MSFT-genuine, to PatchGuard kicking in.

>Could be latency issues?
Might be. LatencyMon is pointing towards nvddmkm. Within 25 minutes of using the system as I normally would the DPC oscillates between 430-593. I went with an older drivers - same story, newer one exacarbated the issue so I rolled back to 580.88.
I'm using realtek audio drivers (6.4.0.2414 from 24/03/2025). I did use Snappy Driver Installer since the one I used from ASUS' website seemed to do nothing except install some unnecessary Sonic Studio bloat (though that could've been windows update that installed).
Also, when I uninstalled the infamous KB5063878 update, it slightly helped in terms of DPC, though it could be snake oil at this point. I even went so far as to change the channel speed distribution can't remember how it's called on my motherboard) on PCI lanes between GPU and SSDs and still - nothing.
I'm wondering whether the front usb port could be at fault here - too much voltage that mobo can't handle perhaps? It has to be something stupid simple because the amount of troubleshooting I went through got me into a corner.
And yet that foobar trick does the job every time.
>specify the audio codec on the hardware side for extra info.

Like I said it's happening on my speakers, and headphones hooked up directly to the audio port (front and rear) as welll as through DAC. I'm not sure if it's a broken port in this case. Define 'bloat' in your case. If it's a case of "holy fuck why the fuck is the system partition filled that much", run WizTree to analyze the volume and see its sitrep.
And with some general tips: uninstall applications that you don't use (use BCUninstaller so that it could take care of any leftovers a program's own uninstaller couldn't), run cleanmgr, clean %temp% and leftover crashdumps, et cetera et cetera. There's more of that, but these should be common steps for disk space maintenance.
>>106358581
Realtek is a hit or miss, depending on the ALC codec and how it's implemented in your motherboard. I'd try uninstalling the drivers first, and have DDU completely remove whatever was left of the driver
Try forcing windows' generic hd audio driver for the device, see whether the pop-ins still happen (and other potential issues), then you may try installing what Realtek provides in their site (or use the universal UAD driver from pal1000)
Ideally you should run the OEM-purposed driver with specific customizations for the "full experience", in case something doesn't work under the generic drivers, but these can be bloaty at the same time.
>You have me at a bit of disadvantage here. Can I get that info from msinfo32 or in the device manager properties?
IIRC it can be somewhat determined based on the DEV_ part in the device's hardware ids, but I guess your regular HW utilities like AIDA or HWINFO will be more accurate.

When I first put Windows 10 back on it and the desktop screen loaded I was shocked that the fans were still blaring even though nothing was going on, contrasted to Linux where I could have 3 videos playing and my computer wasn't heating up at all. I tried disabling some startup apps but there weren't many since I just redownloaded windows. Does LTSC or any kind of debloating script or tool fix this?

I thought you were talking about the surface laptop - to be fair, consumer laptops aren't really famed for their good heat dissipation and efficiency.
and from a quick glance, it looks like tearing down this model just for maintenance cleaning will be a PITA.
>Just today I opened the task manager and I saw that the compatibility telemetry was hogging 90% of my CPU for a short while for some reason.
I couldn't for the love of god remind myself when was the last time DiagTrack and CompatTelRunner were blatantly running during my daily usage, especially in my latest install of windows.
And all I had done with telemetry was enable the telemetry configuration policy and set it to 0 (Though the "level 0" option only affects enterprise-based editions, including Education proper), then enabled most of the recommended configuration options in ShutUp10.
>Does LTSC or any kind of debloating script or tool fix this?
LTSC is basically binary-identical to Enterprise, but as a fixed release instead of rolling, plus without the surface(heh)-level Store/UWP applications (think the "bundled apps" analogy in android distributions, the core UWP apps necessary for the system are still here). It's not really a panacea.
'True' debloating tools that modify your installation image (think Optimize-Offline, MSMG, NTLite, and other tools taking advantage of Windows servicing stack and dism) aren't exactly panacea either, and you might fuck things up when handled improper.
>but there's a paste in the OP regarding debloating that you might want to check out

If I HAD to choose one, I'd say it's barely slightly faster, but the difference is so small it's hard to tell. The only thing I couldn't stand was the new context menu, which was easy to change with a 2 second google. Microsoft is forcing it as of some updates back, I think at the beginning of this year.
As long as you have realtime scan disabled and "Allow antimalware service to remain running always" also disabled, you are good to go.
Also, "Configure local setting override to turn on realtime protection" being disabled may help, I speculate.
I had the antimalware software disabled and deleted, so updates to it would continuously fail in Windows Update... Or maybe that is why they decided to force it.

The requirements exist in the first place because of the defaultly on Core Isolation security feature that 8th gen Intel Cores and above can use properly without you noticing anything performance wise. Older CPUs basically emulate it and it feels slower by comparison.
IoT LTSC 2024 doesn't have Core Isolation on by default, so it can run on most any 64-bit system.

The setup autodetected the ESP from your available drives, and used that for installing its boot manager and loader instead. One EFI partition per drive is expected from the system - spec standards.
Word of notice: make sure you offline any other drives with diskpart, except the target one you're going to install Windows onto and the installation media. (invoke Shift+F10 for the command prompt)

>"designed"
nta, but about that - sometimes drivers declared as "11-only" surprisingly turn out to work on latest 10 as well, or require a simple INF modification to install it from the device manager/pnputil. it's not a general rule nor guaranteed, though.
It all comes to the actual driver files - especially .sys ones - whether they were still compiled with 10 still in mind, whether they include deeper version checks, refusing driver load on unsupported windows releases, to actually utilising any API calls/newer standards implemented in 11 but not in latest 10.

Then after that's all set up, you then use the enablement update to up its version number to 22H2.

I think the OP guide should get an update about Massgrave HWID Activation or at least a mention that now you can just use it to convert 'standard' LTSC edition to IoT witout any putting in any keys manually or resorting to PID.txt method.

Yeah it was dumb of me to not check what edition I was installing half a year ago. How things are looking on Windows 11? Is there still a way to achieve fullscreen Metro interface like on Windows 8?
