Only exists within city limits. The 'right wing' solution has existed for decades, but simply doesn't happen; deregulation and vastly more construction. Democrats have near unanimous control of every major city government and thus the zoning regulations of every major city. They cry about unaffordable housing while doing everything to prohibit new construction, either directly or indirectly.

Indirectly via retardation like rent control, because why would anyone invest tens of millions of dollars building an apartment building in NYC, for example, if they can't even rent out the units at market rates? They'd never make their money back. Trick question, they wouldn't, thus new apartments won't get built.

Gut the regulatory restraints on new construction and have the police beat the boomers who turn out to cry about it into submission and the problem is solved.
