The treasure types are roughly equivalent of colors in other games, because different types of cards would be paid for with different treasure. I haven't thought about the mechanical distinctions between each type too much, just the flavor.

Some ideas for types:

>Minerals
Generic metals and precious gems. Found by blowing apart asteroids. Mainly used for pretty orthodox ship parts and stuff. Paying for cards with minerals represents building new stuff with them.
>Gold
Yes, gold is a mineral/metal, but pirates love gold, so it should be a separate thing, mainly treated as "money". Paying for cards with gold represents buying things from merchants, so they would be the kinds of things you couldn't make yourself.
>Biomass
A generic catch-all for biological material. Might be hauling space fish, or scooping up the flesh of a giant space sea monster, or harvesting the spaceweed (like seaweed, not drugs) growing on the side of an asteroid. Cards that are paid for with biomass would be stuff like biological weapons, genetic modification(?), and taming space sea monsters to do your bidding.
>Artifacts
Gotta have your ancient technologically advanced aliens. Artifacts are broken tech salvaged from the debris of ancient alien spaceships. Cards paid for with artifacts are like reverse engineered alien tech and would probably have some of the weirdest effects in the game. Maybe high-risk, high-reward type stuff.
>Salvage
Many other ships have tried to get rich in this very same debris field, and became part of it. You can salvage the remains of long derelict space boats. I like the idea of salvage being used to "repair" your own ship, which might be represented by interaction with the graveyard/trash/discard zone, to bring back cards that you've already used.
